Obit: Lona Belle Myers Wells Called by Death

Mrs. Lona Belle Myers Wells, 9629 Mallison avenue, South Gate, died at her Home Friday, September 23, 1938, at the age of 59, after an illness of two months. Mrs. Wells, a native of Ambis, Indiana, came to California six years ago, and had been a resident of South Gate for the past 3 years.

Survivors are her widower, R. G. Wells; three daughters, Mrs. Romayne L. Hawks, of South Gate, Mrs. Florence L. Kaplan of Minnesota, and Mrs. Edith Noeth of Akron, Ohio; two sons, Harry R. Wells, of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and Glenn E. Wells, of Akron, Ohio and by one brother, Daniel Myers of Fort Morgan, Colorado.

The remains will be forwarded to Owatonna, Minn., tonight for services and interment, with the Pyle mortuary in charge of arrangements.
Lona Belle Myers Wells was buried in Inglewood Park Cemetery Inglewood, Los Angeles County, California and not in Minnesota.

2. HOUSTON, Texas -- Velaire "Lari" Florence Kaplan Ehni, 86, died peacefully at home April 18, 2004.
Lari was born May 13, 1917 to Florence and Reuben A. Kaplan. She graduated from Carleton College and the Vogue School of Design in Chicago. While in Chicago, she met her husband, George J. Ehni, M.D. His training and neurosurgical practice took them to Rochester; Temple, Texas, and finally to Houston where they lived since 1949. Lari led a full and loving life, actively supporting her husband's career and the various activities of her seven children. She was remarkably creative in all areas of her life, always learning, teaching, and sharing what she knew -- from cooking, entertaining, artistic projects, decorating, or sewing clothes for herself and her children. She was an avid fiber artist with her work shown professionally, purchased by museums, and held in many private collections. A retrospective of her work was recently shown at The Houston Center for Contemporary Craft.

Lari was preceded in death by her husband and sons, Kurt and George Jr., sister, Blanche K. Mullenmaster, and brother, Reuben W. Kaplan.
She is survived by her children, Margo E. Goodwin and husband Bill; daughter-in-law, Janet Ehni, all of Dallas, Texas, Bruce Ehni, M.D., and wife Mary, Nicole Ehni, Melanie E. Mouzoon, M.D., and husband Kamran, all of Houston, Brian Ehni of Franklin, Tenn., Scott Ehni and wife Dallas, of Trinity; seven grandchildren, Grady Goodwin, M.D., Tracy G. Flint and husband Robb, Justin Ehni, Meaghan Ehni, Molly Ehni, Faizi Mouzoon, Bahji Mouzoon; one great-grandson, Cooper Flint; her sister, Lonabelle K. Spencer; brother, Kennard Kaplan.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. today in the chapel of The Settegast-Kopf Co., 3320 Kirby Drive, Houston, with Sr. Virginia O'Donnell officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the George Ehni Neurosurgical Workshop at Baylor College of Medicine, Office of Development, One Baylor Plaza, 171A, Houston, Texas, 77030, or to a charity of choice.
